The Amsterdam canal belt makes an appeal to the imagination to many. The grandeur of the 17th century is still palpable in the over 400 years old (ware)houses, bridges and waterways. The image that you see on this page is the ‘Golden Bend’ at the Herengracht; the picture was taken in 1875 at the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat.
Even after more than 400 years the area is still aimed towards living, working and recreation. Worldwide this is unique! That’s why in July 2010 the Amsterdam Canal Belt received a status of “Unesco World Heritage.”
We express our enthusiasm about our special area with love and passion! We will gladly take you on exploring the hidden gems in our canal area. The Amsterdam Canal District Foundation has set itself the goal of promoting the positive image of the Amsterdam canal area. We are the connecting link between hotels, restaurants, museums, galleries, shops and shopping areas in our historic area.
We work together and find pleasure in helping and supporting each other wherever we need. In addition, we focus on a wide audience that we welcome to our canals: national and international guests, companies and residents of our great city!
